Description: Are you interested in learning how to make your own ceramic cups, bowls, vases and more? This class is designed for the absolute BEGINNER (or those of you who want to join the fun and brush up on your basic hand building skills). Participants will be introduced to working with patterns and molds using both stiff and soft slab construction techniques.
There will be discussion on the necessary tools and equipment as well as information on the necessary resources which includes ceramic supply stores, books, and DVDs for those that want to continue their hand building journey.
Learning a new skill is exciting and intimidating all at once. We will break up the process into bite sized pieces allowing ample time for each participant to create at their own pace and level. The studio is a wonderful place for creating and connecting, so be prepared to leave the workshop with your beautiful pottery and new friends!
Fair warning: Don’t be surprised if you catch the hand building bug after taking this workshop! The great news is that Double Island Studio has several ceramic workshops on the schedule for you to enjoy.
